Legal & General Group Plc is the ultimate holding company for a group of risk, savings and investment management businesses. Its risk business is engaged in the provision of financial security for customers and their families, including life assurance, critical illness cover, retirement income (annuities), and buildings and contents insurance. The Company’s savings business is engaged in the provision of financial planning, savings and investments for customers, including pensions, unit trusts and individual savings account (ISAs), bonds and with-profits. Its investment management business is engaged in investing on behalf of institutional and retail customers, including index tracking funds, active equity and fixed income and structured solutions. On February 7, 2007, the Company entered into an agreement with the Nationwide Building Society to purchase Nationwide Life Limited and Nationwide Unit Trust Managers Limited. On February 1, 2008, the acquisition was completed.
